This, as you may surmise, is the development section home. I plan to host a number of items here, not the least of wich is the mapserver you see linked in the Dev submenu.

The first real project of the site was the layout itself. The template consists of the include files. Two are globals to the site - header and footer.inc, while the third covers content specific to a section (/dev, /me, etc...). Menus for the sections are in their respective includes, while formatting and style sheet links, js, etc are in the header and footer. I am trying out the idea of using javascript to do some basic, repetitive formatting like the section and page headers. I won't address whether using js for rendering content is a good idea or not, bit it's an idea for reducing client load (after all that comment bloat I added :-).

Oh, speaking of comments, if you view source, you can see the include and structure table breaks. Version 2 of the site will go to css positioning.

The other "first" project that will grace the page here is what I talked about in the news item - the physics model for tire traction. I have an idea already layed out for describing it in a simple fashion, but I think I may have something more. I think I can create a system to apply common formulas to any object, then put the objects into a box and let them interact normally. More to come on that...

The developer conference back in August was a blast. As soon as I write (or download if I am lazy enough) a php scrapbook, I will make a nice presentation. In the mean time, some of the images of the plan ride out there are up. The originals are the coded names, with their scaled-down couterpart named more descriptively.
